Patakan Thai Restaurant has been serving gourmet Thai food to the Greater Pasadena people for over 20 years. Surapee K. (or Sue) first opened her “Siam Gourmet” ineast Pasadena (on Colorado Boulevard and Altadena Drive) in early 1980s. Everyone in the neighborhood knows Sue and her delicious food. When Old Town Pasadena was redeveloped in early 1990s, Sue’s son (Jaturan) and his wife (Anne) inherited the business and moved the restaurant to Old Town Pasadena, becoming one of the very first up-scale restaurants in the booming Old Town. Soon enough Anuwat (Anne’s brother), an experienced chef, joined the team to strengthen the workforce, and became a dedicated partner of Patakan.
Patakan had been standing firm serving the people in both Pasadena and nearby cities for 15 years amid the coming and going of many other restaurants that wanted to step into the popular Old Town area. Getting enough adventure in the busy Old Town, Anuwat and Anne decided to move Patakan back to a peaceful town of South Pasadena, where their families have been settled in. Patakan at its new home in South Pasadena is as humble as the town, serving gourmet Thai food to the people of South Pasadena, Pasadena, San Marino, and other nearby cities in a friendly atmostphere at a much more reasonable price than in the expensive Old Town. Moreover, the patrons can choose to dine in, take out, or have the food delivered to their homes at their convenience.
To add more varieties of food selections, the Patakan Management Team has recently opened a new “Charm Rice and Noodle” restaurant within the same Plaza as Patakan. A wide variety of Asian rice and noodle dishes are being served at Charm. Stop by either Patakan or Charm to enjoy authentic food at an affordable price in the heart of South Pasadena. |
